"Spirituality on the Margins" A retreat for lgbt persons, parents, and pastoral ministers
Born in Lancaster, England, Edwina Gateley has followed the call of God in her life by teaching in Africa, founding the Volunteer Missionary Movement, sojourning into the Sahara Desert, and spending nine months of prayer in a trailer in the woods. In 1983, she spent over a year on the streets of Chicago walking with the homeless and women involved in prostitution, after which she founded Genesis House, a house of hospitality for women involved in prostitution. Registration Fee: $185 (prior to September 1, 2010) Registration fee includes materials; overnight single accommodations on Friday and Saturday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Content of the Retreat
Through sharing Scripture and contemporary experiences we will explore how we are called to recognize and nurture God's presence in our world. We will see how the grace of God can empower us to move mountains and to believe in our call to become mystics and prophets. This retreat will affirm and challenge us to believe in our potential to work miracles and to celebrate our identity as daughters and sons of God!
